1. Two Important Meetings About Claytor Lake
Please mark your calendars for the dates of two very important meetings regarding
Claytor Lake.

    1. The New River Land Trust Meeting on Claytor Lake
WHEN:  Tuesday, November 9th, 2004 at 7 pm
    WHERE:  Draper Fire Department
TO DISCUSS:  Preserving land around Claytor Lake. For more info
    call [540] 951-1704 or nrlt@newriverlandtrust.org.

    2. The Friends of Claytor Lake November Board Meeting
WHEN:  Tuesday, November 16th, 2004 at 6 pm
    WHERE:  Dublin Town Hall
TO DISCUSS:  The Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Plan for Claytor Lake
presented by the Corps of Engineers. This Plan concerns the siltation build-up
in Claytor Lake, how it can be managed, and how the life of Claytor Lake can be
    extended through this Plan.

Please note that the FOCL Board Meeting, which is regularly scheduled for the
second Tuesday of every month (and would have conflicted with the NRLT’s meeting
this month) has been moved to encourage attendance at both meetings. Both of
these organizations are important to Claytor Lake and the land around it and work
together to preserve the beauty of the area. For the future of Claytor Lake for our
children and our children’s children, these are two meetings you should attend!

2. Needed:  Heavy Equipment Help.
Heavy Equipment owner/operators, FOCL needs your help!

From time to time FOCL needs heavy equipment for Lake Clean-up. For example,
work needs to be done to repair the road to get to the debris drop-off site. If you
have a bulldozer, track loader, motor grader, dump truck, or skid steer loader that
you would be willing to donate for a day or two, we would be extremely grateful.
Please give us a call so we can put your name on a call list that we will use as the
need arises. Please call:

    Ronnie Powers:  [540] 980-3015 or [540] 230-7154, or
    Dean Jackson:  [540] 980-1575, [540] 980-0056 or [540] 230-0023.

We gratefully appreciate any help you can offer.

4. Other Bits & Pieces

    Claytor Lake Annual Drawdown.
Don’t forget the lake will be kept down 5’ during the month of November, and is
scheduled to be allowed to return to full pond by November 27th.

In an Upcoming Issue:  Lake Clean-up by the Numbers
In an upcoming FOCL e-news, we will summarize the Lake Clean-Up Operation for
2004. Be looking for this informative and interesting round-up of FOCL’s clean up
    operations.
