1. 2007 FOCL Boat Parade Winners
Thanks to all of those who participated in the Friends of Claytor Lake 4th Annual
Boat Parade in Honor of Independence Day. It was a beautiful day and we went
on our longest parade route yet circling up by the dam and around the island. To
top it all off, we were treated to several fly-bys from our own sea plane pilot Jeff
Arnold with Ken Conner waving to the crowds from the co-pilot’s chair.

2. Update on Lake Cleanup
The Friends of Claytor Lake Clean Up Operation went into full gear in June starting at
the dam. We have since moved up through Ridpath Cove on the Snowville side and
Roseberry Hollow on the north side. We are now in Smith Hollow. Our plans are to
work our way up the lake to Felts Hollow, then Buzzard Roost Hollow and from there
to the Harry DeHaven Park area.

So far we have removed 225 tons of debris. It has been a slower process so far this
year because the areas we have been working in are deep—making it more difficult to
retrieve the debris plus there have been smaller pockets of debris—but it is what we
expected. The most debris is located from Nunn Hollow to Claytor Lake Estates and
we should be pulling out quite a few loads from there. Note this is our first effort to
remove debris from the area of the lake below the State Park.
