FOCL Meeting Time Change In an attempt to accommodate busy schedules, the Friends of Claytor Lake meeting time has been changed to the third Monday of each month at 6pm in the Council Chambers of the Dublin Town Hall. The next meeting will be April 19, 2010. Everyone is encouraged to attend. |

| Boat Virginia Classes A COURSE FOR OPERATORS OF BOATS AND PERSONAL WATERCRAFT There are 3 more upcoming scheduled Boat Virginia Classes. These classes meet the requirements of the new Virginia boating laws. To register for these classes, contact Mendy Harman at mendyh@comcast.net. First Class Second Class Third Class Subjects: Choosing the Right Boat, Boat Hulls, Motors, Legal Requirements, Navigation Rules, Cruising, Docking, Anchoring, Knots, Accidents, Alcohol Consumption, Fire on Board, Weather, Trailering, Water Sports, Personal Watercraft Cost: Instruction, textbook, and supplies are free. Bring a snack and drink. Each graduate earns a wallet card showing successful completion of the class and is also registered with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Education Division in Richmond, Virginia. This course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and recognized by the United States Coast Guard. Instructors are certified by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Most major insurance companies endorse the course and allow insurance premium discounts to graduates.

| Board Meeting Minutes FRIENDS OF CLAYTOR LAKE • Board Meeting Minutes • January 14, 2010 Present: Ron Powers, Darla Jennings, John Toothaker, John Johnson, Larry Moore, Minutes of the November 12, 2009 Board meeting were approved with the correction Organizational Development: Annual membership meeting is being planned for Income/Expense Report was approved as presented. General Fund $1,975.79; Darla Jennings is paid by FOCL to work 20 hours per week. The upcoming demands Environmental Resources: Christmas tree deployment date of January 27 is tentative due to ice on the lake. Darla will keep the Board informed of the date. FOCL Board meetings were changed from Tuesday to Thursday to accommodate By-Laws update is being worked on by Bill Cunningham and Alan Stratton. Ronnie Buoys: Larry Moore produced documentation that in 2004, FOCL took responsibility for 6 buoys near the dam: 3 marking the sunken island, and 3 more along the Bullard Farm between the island and Dublin Hollow. Those buoys are missing. Larry said the Coast Guard Aux would put buoys out if FOCL would buy them. Dean Jackson will check on the cost of the buoys. The meeting was adjourned. |
